With the emergence of technology, many of the young people in the society have embraced it without critically thinking how it can negatively affect them.
Technology has led to the rise of smartphones with quite a big memory space. Most of the youths use this memory space for storing their favorite music. However, these phones have a better volume compared to other phones. Many youths prefer listening to music while travelling. They turn the volume very high such that the person sitting next to them can hear the same music they are listening to. This is dangerous.
Parents, on the other hand, have tried taking the earphones away from their kids but some kids think parents are too hard on them. They in turn, look for money and buy other earphones or headphones.
I address this article to such like youths. Yes, those who think they have the right to do what they want because they are above 18.
You are killing yourselves slowly. Today you set your volume to 60% after a week or two you feel this volume is not loud enough. You add it to 70% and the game continues. By the time you will be 25, you will find it hard to listen to people thinking they are too low. But remember, these people are not instruments that you will slightly increase their volume. This will also affect your class work.
Also, remember that what you invest in today will be what you reap in the years to come. The more you place the earphone in your ears, the more you destroy your ear drum. According to the National Institute of Health, repeated exposure to high volume sound leads to a permanent destruction of your hearing.
