As various candidates continue to announce their aspirations to bid for the governorship of Nakuru County, there is a very vital and important group of voters they will be targeting.
According to a Nakuru based political analyst Angela Mwangi, the youth vote is likely to shape the Nakuru gubernatorial race and determine who the next county chief will be.
Mrs Mwangi says the youth constitute a large number of registered voters in the county, and they cannot be wished away or ignored by any serious candidates who want to be governor.
Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Mwangi said whichever candidate wins the hearts of the youth is the candidate to beat at the ballot.
"If you look at the online and social media platforms, you will realise that all the contestants are taking the social media very seriously and they have even employed social media managers because they badly need the votes from the youths,"she said.
"Social media is controlled by the youth and in Nakuru, the youth who have registered as voters are many and have the numbers to determine who will be the next governor of Nakuru," she added.
She advised contestants to focus more on the youth when drafting their manifestos if they want to win their hearts and votes.
"Anybody who will have the youth mind when campaigning and include them in his plans then he will have an upper hand of becoming the next governor,"she said.
