Traders and organisations from Thika sub-county and its environs on Thursday morning gathered at Mama Ngina gardens in Thika town for the opening of the Thika District Business Association trade fair.
The three-day trade fair was flagged off by Kiambu Governor William Kabogo.
According to the TDBA secretary Sam Chege, the fair will be closed by Thika MP Alice Ng’ang’a.
She will also conduct a fund raiser towards the Thika Education Trust Fund expected to be attended by prominent people from across the country.
Chege lauded the traders and the business community as a whole for standing united even in the harsh conditions and joining the demonstrations and protests against the hiked levies earlier last year.
He further said the association was delighted to be serving and working towards supporting the Thika business community who has been so cooperative.
“I am glad to be serving people who are working towards the betterment of Thika town and also creating opportunities for our youth. We have been through a lot this year but we are happy to have defeated the challenges that we have been facing,” he said.
Over 300 business persons and firms attended the fair.
