Dating has become an expensive affair nowadays with many men complaining how ladies have become materialistic and money-hungry.

The matter is further complicated by a notorious local newspaper columnist known for her hate for men with blue Subaru cars and who usually advise young ladies to avoid poor men like plague and embrace old sponsors with vast wealth and investments.

With money, wealth and material things seeming to form the basis of 'finding' a good chic, every man would only then hope to find somewhere to get that 'good chick' at the lowest cost possible either for a date or a night out. Of course here am talking about a bachelor looking for a perfect match not an old, promiscuous, married sponsor looking for a break in his 5-decade-old marriage.

That said, many would agree because it is a known fact, a Thika chic would form that perfect match for a night out or a date. A Thika chic in one word is 'cheap'.

I mean in terms of what she would cost you in say a nightout or a date, let's say this Friday when many will have finished their February salaries and are now looking forward to salary advances next week.

At such a sorry financial situation, no man would dare talk or want to look like she is talking to a chick in a joint where sponsors with heavy pockets are coughing cash and boasting that 'they are just eating the flowers when the tree is still flourishing in the garden'.

But in Thika there is solace. With only 1K (Sh1,000) or two you are ready to go. Thika chicks, who are mostly villagers and are in the town for higher education, would find you the best man if you treated them with a sumptuous meal at a high-end food joint like Cascade Restaurant, The Spot, or a place like Coconut Grill.

Both of your meals and drinks here wouldn't cost you more than Sh400. With still Sh600 remaining, you have half way won the girl. If she is the kind that likes partying, don't worry because they don't take expensive brands and would never drain your cash.

For those that are not in this category of partying perhaps they would ask you to take them to a place like Fourteen Falls where entry is only Sh100. As you can see, for an emerging hustler, there is no need to grapple with huge expenses, mostly financed by M-Shwari loans on a girl that you will never win when there is an alternative.

Married sponsors are not welcome to this territory and are advised to stick to the vows they made to their partners half-a-century ago.
