Thika town Ward Representative Mwangi Wa Mwangi has appealed for intensified security in the area.

The MCA claims that cases of crime have increased in the recent past and wants law enforcers to take their work seriously.

Speaking to journalists at Thika bus stage on Monday, Mwangi said that several cases of crime have been reported in various parts of the Ward.

He said that locals and businessmen are not feeling safe adding that law enforcers must intervene and ensure calm and order.

“The police and other law agencies must step up the fight against crime, it I unfortunate that with the resources they have they cannot guarantee security to citizens,” he said.

The MCA urged the police to conduct more patrols and deal with gangs that are said to be terrorising locals.

A section of locals have complained of rise in crime in the past three weeks.

Monica Wambui, a wholesaler near Blue Post hotel alleges existence of criminal gang that is causing havoc in the area.

In an interview on Sunday, the mother of one claims that a group of criminals has been terrorising residents.

She says that despite their cries to police officers nothing seems to be happening.

“The government should provide security so that our safety is not threatened, we need security for ourselves and businesses,” said Wambui.
