The tarmacking of Kang’oki-Muthaiga-Kiandutu road in Thika will commence in March, area MP Alice Ng’ang’a has assured motorists and residents.

According to the Member of Parliament, adequate funds under the Thika Constituency Development Fund have been allocated for the tarmacking.

Speaking to journalists at Thika town on Thursday, Ng’ang’a said that once completed the 25-kilometres road that links to the Thika-Garissa highway will ease traffic congestion.

The MP also announced that renovations will be done on the Kwaheri-Munyu road, Landless-Bell House road and the Kiganjo-Landless-BAT road.

“Adequate funds have been allocated under the CDF kitty to oversee renovation and tarmacking of various roads within Thika,” she said.

She said that development of proper infrastructure and especially roads will open up the area for development and business.

The Thika MP said that her priority is to ensure the constituency has good roads, access to clean tap water, education and proper healthcare.

Ng’ang’a accused the Kiambu government of sluggishness in resonation of some roads. She said that the delay and sluggishness in road renovations is costing the county development.

“We will not beg for development projects from the Kiambu government but we will demand them because we have a right to them,” she said.

The MP accused the county of delaying in disbursing money meant for development projects like roads.

Ng’ang’a said that she will continue to agitate for development in the constituency for the sake of the people.
