Thika businessmen and corporates have been called upon support various developmental programmes in the area as way of giving back to society.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday after donating three water tanks to St Patrick Primary School in Thika town, Thika District Business Association chairman Waweru Nderitu said corporate social responsibility in the current business world has become inevitable.

"I call upon individual businessmen and corporates to come out and joins us in supporting various initiatives and other worthy courses beneficial to the people living in this area we operate," said Waweru.

He, however, noted that many companies and other establishments in the area have incorporated CSR programmes in their operations which he said should be lauded.

"When you give, it doesn't mean that you have so much but it is a sign of goodwill and appreciation," he added.

He said the association which comprises various entities from manufacturing and service industry sectors will continue to join hands with locals to grow and develop the area.

"Today we are here to support education through these water tanks. Tomorrow it will be another thing," he said.
