Thika Water and Sewerage company (Thiwasco) plans to increase water generated due to the increasing population of Thika and its environs, newly appointed director Eng Moses Kinya has said.
Speaking during the end year party by the water company at Thika Pristine Paradise hotel on Wednesday, Eng Kanyi said that since he assumed office he has noticed that the water in Thika is insufficient.
He added that he plans to initiate plans to increase the amount generated to members of the public.
He said that the recently adopted areas of supply have led to the challenge despite the fact that they have increased the revenue generated by the company.
Eng Kanyi said that Witeithie, Ngoliba, Gatuanyaga and some parts of Murang’a County are the latest addition areas of supply by the company and that they have been pumping more water to the areas than they have been doing before.
Also present was Kiambu County Water and Environment chief executive Esther Ndirangu who pledged to support the board members of the water company in supplying water to its clients.
Having worked in the company earlier, Ndirangu said that she understands the areas with more need for water in Thika, and she will push for the increase in the amount of water pumped in the regions.
The water company was recently ranked first in quality services delivery and water treatment countrywide, and runners up in distribution of the resource in the grassroots after Nyeri Water Company which topped the list.
