Three Ethiopians were on Wednesday arrested in Kiambu after being found to be in the country illegally.
The three had stayed in Kiambu for four days before members of the Nyumba Kumi initiative near where they lived identified them and reported the matter to the police.
Confirming the incident, Kiambu OCPD Stephen Ng'etich said that the three foreigners had been in the country for a week but had moved in Kiambu town four days ago.
He said that the three didn't have any documents to prove they are legally in the country. The OCPD said that according to the report by the Nyumba Kumi chairman, the three were living a secret life and were always locked in the house.
He said that the matter arose after a meeting by the nyumba kumi where some members raised the issue of the three Ethiopians.
"Police were able to recover two laptops which will be of help during the investigations. It is a serious crime to be in the country illegally and the three are in police custody as investigations are ongoing," said Ng'etich.
He said that the three will be taken to court on Thursday after police complete their investigations.
However the police boss hailed the Nyumba kumi initiative stating that it has greatly played a role in ensuring Kiambu is a crime free zone.
He also sent a warning to landlords and landladies to be very vigilant when admitting residents in their houses as some of them may be criminals.
