Four men, including a sub-chief, were arraigned before Kangundo Law Court on Thursday to answer to charges of assault.
Appearing before Judge Timothy Okello, Kimiti sub-chief Kivuva Malului together with Gabriel Mutiso Munyoki, Alfred Mutinda Kilonzo and Gabriel Mativi Kitavu pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting a fellow member of Kimiti Farmers Cooperative society Mwanzia Muli.
The accused are said to have brutally attacked Muli following personal differences leaving him seriously injured.
The four were released on a Sh30,000 cash bail as police continue with investigations into the incident. The case will be heard on December 1, 2015.
