Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira has lauded residents for their support in fighting crime in the area.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday in Ruiru town, Thuranira said crime rates have reduced in the last three weeks.
The OCPD attributed the reduction in crime to the support of residents mostly through the nyumba kumi initiative.
Thuranira lauded residents for embracing nyumba kumi and other community policing measures put in place by the government.
“We are happy that members of the public have seen the need to work with the police in fighting crime and want to encourage them to continue,” said the Ruiru OCPD.
Thuranira said law enforcers in the sub-county are determined to keep peace and order in the New Year.
The OCPD warned criminals saying their days are numbered if they don’t surrender to police.
Thuranira appealed to residents to continue sharing information with the police in their quest to fight crime.
He assured residents of their security in the coming year.
Meanwhile, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has asked the police to streamline security across the county.
Wamatangi while addressing the public in Kiambu town, urged the police to pull up their efforts on security.
The senator observed that the county had experienced a spate of criminal activities in the last four months of this year.
