A section of residents of Tigoni town in Limuru sub county have urged the government to intensify and boost security surveillance in the area.

The locals are complaining over alleged rise in criminal activities in the past two weeks.

Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, the locals appealed to security agencies to beef up security and deal with criminals terrorising them.

The locals alleged existence of a gang which they said has been terrorising them by robbing them of their valuables.

“The government has to take our security seriously and deal with criminal groups causing us problems,” said Martin Muasya, a shop owner at Tigoni shopping center.

Muasya said that several shops have been broken into under mysterious circumstances and property stolen.

He said that despite their efforts to have the matter addressed by security officers nothing has been done.

Maurice Kamau, a tuk tuk operator within Tigoni town said that security has been deteriorating in the last two weeks.

Kamau asked the police to intensify patrols and ensure security of citizens and businessmen is guaranteed.

Reacting to the claims by the locals, Limuru sub county OCPD Mohammed Bakuli said police are carrying out investigations into the claims.

He however said appropriate measures have been taken to contain crime in the area.

Bakuli asked the residents to volunteer information that would help in nailing the criminals.
