Kisumu South East MCA Joseph Otiende has promised to sponsor top ten students who will perform exemplary in the ongoing Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.
Speaking to the press at the Kisumu County Assembly premises on Wednesday afternoon, Otiende said that he will sponsor the best pupils in his ward.
“Immediately the results are announced, the pupils should report to my office so that we can start the sponsorship programme,” said Otiende.
He said that he visited various schools in his ward to assure them he is ready to pay fees for those who will emerge the top ten in the ward.
“As you are aware I have always put education as the first priority in my ward. No student should fail to go to school for lack of school fees,” said the Kisumu South East MCA.
He said the sponsorship program will instill competition among the students in his ward which will improve education standards.
“Education is the key to success in life. Without education we can’t have proper leadership and development in the country,” said Otiende.
Kisumu South East MCA also said he is willing sponsor the less privileged students who lack school fees to access education.
