Even as Kenyans are still enjoying the good life and health, 2015 KCSE top performers will have to go through a tedious process to secure a place in the university.

KCSE performance will no longer be the sole determinant of whoever joins prestigious universities. At least according to preliminary reports spreading across the country, Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi has instructed all university heads to ensure that a proper and quality merit examination is in place for those who shall have attained the minimum entry points.

As part of the changes to the new curriculum to take effect this year, students who are selected to join various universities will undertake another exam with high quality before admission. There are dozens of changes in the 8-4-4 system and the new curriculum will be released by the ministry in due course.

This will serve as merit test for students joining university to take various courses. The directive comes day after the no nonsense cabinet secretary swore to stop exam cheating in Kenyan school once for all.

Meanwhile, the 2015 KCSE results will be announced on March 3 according to Kenya National Examination Council Chief Executive Officer Joseph Kivilu.

Over 500,000 students sat for the exam which was engulfed by massive examination cheating.

There has been renewed hope of reform of ministry of education and new cabinet secretary could do away with KNEC body.
