Top Kisii leaders on Friday boycotted Deputy President Ruto’s courtesy call in his home at Sugoi, Eldoret.
Governors, senators, women representatives, from the counties as well as ODM legislators, except Kitutu Chache South MP, Richard Onyonka, were among the delegation.
Addressing the press conference on Friday morning in Kisii town, the leaders led by Kisii Governor, James Ongwae, Senator Chris Obure and women representative, Mary Otara, termed the courtesy call as a political one.
The leaders wondered why the meeting was taking place in Ruto’s’ home instead of being held at respective counties.
“The motive of the meeting is not developmental but to seduce us to join the party. The meeting should have taken place in Kisii,” said Obure.
Kisii Deputy Governor, Joash Maangi, led a delegation of 1500 people, including members of the county assembly and council leaders went to Ruto’s home on Thursday.
Maangi said the visit was purely a by partisan visit that would ensure development in Kisii County.
A section of ODM members from Kisii County on Tuesday accused Maangi of being used to divide Kisii voters. Maangi, however, faulted those misleading Kisii County residents that they were being seduced by the government.
