Kisii town drainage system has deteriorated to an alarming state and residents are appealing to the county government to move fast and undertake repairs.

Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Thursday, a trader with a stall at the county market Mrs. Eliza Nyabaro lamented that there were broken pipes which emit filthy fumes making it hard for customers to pass along there.

“With the current ongoing rains, the market is in a worrying state and if the county government does not hurry up to fix this drainage system, it could lead to flooding with human waste and awful smells hampering movement of people in this area,” said Eliza.

A motorist who declined to be named said that although there were signs of construction materials at various sites in town, nothing seems to be happening because they have been there for a while.

“We want the concerned authorities to deal with this situation immediately because it is really unbearable,” he remarked.

The traders complained that the county government does not offer good services to them although they dutifully pay their taxes.

They added that the environment was not conducive for carrying out their businesses since most of their businesses go hand in hand with sanitary conditions.

This Hivisasa's efforts to contact any senior county officials bared no fruit.
