In a notice to all traffic police officers stations across the country, the National Police Service Commission will sack all officers engaged in matatu business.

‘’The Commission regards as conflict of interest those officers who are engaged or own public service vehicles. All officers are aware of police force code of conduct/conflict of interest regulations and their engagement in the business is against the code of conduct thus punishable by dismissal from the force.’’ Reads part of the notice.

The notice further warned officers who have in the course of duty arrested motorists on trumped-up charges, wrongfully detained vehicles and licenses as well as demanding bribes.

This comes ahead of the planned vetting of more than 12,000 police officers that starts on March 12 this year according to the commission website members of public can forward their complaints to the commission before the vetting starts.
