There was panic in Nakuru town on Thursday afternoon after reports emerged that a building under construction had collapsed.

The news that quickly spread through the social media saw many members of the public quickly rush at the scene to witness the catastrophe at the building was being put up behind the Kenya Power offices in Nakuru town.

A visit to the scene revealed that the workers were preparing the foundation when one side of the wall collapsed.

Kenya Red Cross personnel and the Fire Fighters had quickly rushed at the scene and together with members of the public and the construction workers had worked frantically to save the casualties.

Kimani Kimani the adviser to the governor on youth affairs had been among the first to arrive at the scene. 

Speaking about the tragedy, he revealed that they had been able to safe the two construction workers and taken them to hospital.

“We have managed to exhume the two guys who were caught up by the falling wall and they have been taken to hospital. The first one was in stable condition but the second one was in critical condition,” revealed Kimani.

Unfortunately, the second worker was announced dead on arrival at the hospital according to Nakuru Deputy OCPD Janet Wasige.
