Two people were on Friday charged before a Kisumu law court over the theft of a motorbike belonging to their employer.

Gerishom Oukome and Martin Ogolla denied the charges before Kisumu chief magistrate Catherine Keino for the offence allegedly committed on January 4 this year in Kisumu.

According to the prosecution, the two, who work as guards for Joseph Opiyo, stole the motorbike from the Mamboleo home while the owner was away on holiday.

It is alleged that they gained access into the house by breaking the door lock and later replacing it.

The owner discovered that that his house was tampered with on January 5 when he returned from holiday. He discovered that the motorbike was missing.

Upon inquiring from the two guards they denied having any knowledge about the whereabouts of the motorbike.

Immediately the matter was reported to the police the two accused person when into hiding prompting the police to classify them as prime suspects in the case.

They were arrested on January 7 at a house in Obunga slums Kisumu where they led the police to Manyatta estate where the motorbike was recovered hidden in a house.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh10,000 pending the hearing of the case.
