The culprits Musikali Katulu and Mathew Maneno Mutisya are said to have conned over 3 million shillings so far by illegally connecting electricity to residential areas.

The two were charged by chief magistrate in Machakos court Lucy Mbugua where they were sent to remand as more investigations are being conducted within the next 7 days. The areas said to have been affected by the imposters include Kaewa, Iviani, King'atuani and Kathiani which are all in Kathiani Sub-County, Machakos county.

The case will be heard again on 9th November.

The Kenya power company has warned Kenyans against imposters and has informed people on how to prove that the power officer offering services is genuine. KPLC has asked Kenyans to first make sure that any person appearing at their premises claiming to be Kenya power officers has an employee identification card containing their name, photograph and employee code.

Secondly, one should SMS the employee code to 95551 to confirm if the ID is genuine.
