Uasin Gishu County leaders have urged Pope Francis to pray for Deputy President William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua Arap Sang for the cases they are facing at The Hague.
Speaking at the Uasin County Assembly on Wednesday, Uasin Gishu county assembly Speaker Isaac Terer and leader of majority Josphat Lowoi said that through his prayers the leaders could be freed.
"Since the pope is holy and his prayers carry much weight, it is easy for his prayers to be answered and through his prayers their cases will be thrown away and then released," they said.
They urged Pope Francis during his visit in Kenya to pray for the two who are facing criminal charges at the international criminal court and through his intervention, they believe their cases will be a thing of the past.
"We urge the pope and Kenyans as a whole to pray for our deputy president and radio journalist Joshua Sang for their cases to be withdrawn and not forgetting our country on what we are facing as a nation,: the said.
They said that many avenues have been used to free them but all in vain but they believe through prayers all will be well and they will come home free and smiling of what God has done.
