President Uhuru Kenyatta has assured Kenyan youth who have reached the age of 18 that they will be facilitated to get national identity cards.
He asked county commissioners to ensure that the youth get the crucial document without being harassed.
“So long as the youth who are of age are Kenyans, they do not have to be asked to go to the place of their parents’ origin for them to get the identification documents. They should be given the IDs where they stay,” he said.
The President spoke on Friday when he made stopovers in Isiolo town and Ngaremara trading centre in Isiolo County.
He urged pastoralist communities to discard the retrogressive practice of cattle rustling.
He also asked residents to cooperate with government security agencies by exposing criminals.
“Cattle rusting is an out-dated culture that has no place in the present day Kenya. It has to stop because there will be no mercy for the perpetrators,” he said.
