President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Friday open a major conference bringing together leaders of pastoralist communities from 14 counties.

The leaders attending the conference are expected to discuss the role of political leadership and governance on pastoralist communities among other issues.

The Pastoralists’ Leadership Summit Conference is expected to bring together governors, senators, Members of the National Assembly and a host of other leaders from Isiolo, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, Turkana, West Pokot, Baringo, Laikipia, Samburu, Tana River, Lamu, Kajiado and Narok counties.

The President is expected to make major policy announcements touching on development and devolution at the conference at Simba Lodge, Isiolo County.

President Kenyatta early this week assured leaders from the Maa-speaking communities that the government is committed to equitable development for all Kenyans.
