A woman accused of assaulting her uncle on Monday stunned the court after she said that the complainant wanted to rape her.
Anne Wairimu further told the court that she was only protecting herself when she hit her uncle, Joseph Kihiru on the head and fled.
"He found me fetching water within the compound and started harassing me. We had disagreements before and he tried to rape me. I struggled to force him to leave me and he did not. It is by then that I started hitting him and we fought," she said.
Wairimu told the court that she went straight to the police to report the matter but claims the police instead called her uncle, after which she was arrested and charged with assault.
Wairimu is accused of assaulting Kihiru and causing him actual bodily harm on October 25, 2015, at Barnabas area within Nakuru county.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo, she pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh5,000 cash bail.
The court urged them to settle the matter out of court saying it seemed have resulted from other feuds.
The case will be heard on December 24.
