Residents of Uplands estate along the Lari-Kimende-Limuru road have urged the county government to repair vandalized road signs along the highway.

The residents allege that the stretch has no road signs since the ones that existed have been vandalized, a move they say puts the lives of road users in danger.

Speaking to this Hivisasa writer on Saturday, the residents said that school children find it hard to cross roads while heading to school because there are no signs.

Joseph Kirui, a resident also added that lack of road signs along the road has resulted to accidents.

“We are urging the county government to repair vandalized road signs and also and erect more signs after every 50 meters to ensure security of road users especially school children,” he said.

The residents also want the government to erect speed bumps along the road. The locals say that the stretch has no speed bumps, a situation they say has led to over speeding among motorists.

“We have been appealing to the government to erect speed bumps along this road to curb accidents but nothing is being done,” claimed Moses Ndwiga, a boda boda operator in Kimende.

Mr Ndwiga alleged that motorists over speed during the night and end up hitting wild animals that stray during the night.

The residents urged their Member of Parliament (MP) Mburu Kahangara to pick up the matter and ensure road signs and speed bumps are erected along the road.
