One of the non-governmental institutions USAID is educating farmers in Machakos County on the importance of new technology dairy farming.
More than fourty farmers from all the sub-counties congregated in Machakos town on Wednesday for the program.
Speaking during the program, USAID Senior official Judas Mwaburi stated the project was targeting 3,000 farmers in Machakos County.
"Machakos being one of the dairy hubs, we are targeting 3000 farmers but have begun with the technology service providers providing artificial Insemination to farmers," said Mwaburi.
The farmers however urged the County government and stakeholders to invest in farming so as to improve the sector.
The USAID program is a five years program that's aimed at improving dairy farming of 40,000 farmers in the 21 Counties.
