Moi University school of engineering students on Friday held an innovation expo at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret to showcase products that are as a result of their creativity.

Speaking after inspecting the products, acting Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Research and Extension Prof Isaac Njuguna Kimengi said even though some ideas needed to be improved, he was happy most of the pieces were original innovations.

Prof Simiyu Sitati, the dean of school of engineering, said the main purpose of creative innovations is to expose the students to companies which can help them commercialise their products.

"The resources are not enough, and through the expo, the message will reach the public to help commercialise the products," he said.

John Guthega, the director of Innovations Firm Limited at Moi University, encouraged the students to come up with start up companies that will drive them to entrepreneurship world, saying the students are on good track.

"We should be targeting things that can create an environment for manufacturing to provide stability for the economy," he said.
