Kisii University students have been encouraged to register as voters.
Speaking on Thursday at the university's main campus, Laikipia County assembly speaker Patrick Mariru challenged the students to register in large numbers so as to elect good leaders.
"I know many of you did not vote in 2013, but now get registered early to avoid being left out of the voting list," said Mariru.
IEBC officials had been moving in schools and campuses in Kisii County, targeting students for voter registration.
Mariru also encouraged the youths to vie for different positions in the government, especially MCA seats.
"You are leaders of today. I will be a very happy man if I see young people leading this nation," he said.
Some of the students from other counties earlier feared to register from Kisii, thinking they would only vote from the place. But one of the IEBC officers assured them that they had choices to change the voting location anytime if they needed to. The registration exercise is expected to end on March 15.
