The Nakuru County modern market stalls project for youth will boost business and market base in the county, a ward representative has said.
Speaking in her ward on Thursday, Viwandani MCA Eunice Muriithi praised the initiative saying the Governor Kinuthia Mbugua administration was showing concern to the local mwananchi.
"The stalls will provide a good business opportunity to our traders who have for long lacked a modern and organised market," she said.
According to Muriithi, the project will create more jobs to the youth, a majority of who were slowly getting into crime.
"For our youth who complained of not benefiting from the Youth Enterprise Development Fund, this is your only chance to indirectly benefit; Start small scale businesses and apply for allocation of space once the project is over because it's a youth fund sponsored project," she noted.
The MCA promised to help young people acquire business space to help tame the unemployment menace.
On Thursday, the county government commissioned the construction of 150 modern market stalls across all the major markets in all the sub-counties for youth.
