Voter apathy has led to many Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) stations registering few voters leaving many clerks with little to do.
In Kibera, this clerk was overwhelmed by the nothing to do and resorted to taking a nap to while away the time.
Residents turning up for the exercise are few in numbers with a spot check in the area showing that residents have developed a negative attitude towards voter registration.
The apathy stems from several leaders who were elected being accused of stealing public funds for development.
“I feel discouraged to register as a voter since the elected leaders who are in power have not fulfilled promises made during the last election. Why should we vote for greedy leaders who are after stealing money for their own good? I think this time round I rather keep off any issue to do with politics, I do not feel like to be cheated again by false promises,” said Henry Makau a resident in Kibera.
He added that as by the economic situation now in the country many residents are not going to register as voters.
“Let the corrupt leaders come 2017 elect themselves with the support from their families and no one will change my attitude on this matter,” concluded Makau.
