An aspirant for Kisumu Central MP seat Richard Ogendo has launched a door to door voter registration sensitisation campaign in an effort to encourage constituents to register as voters.

Accompanied with area residents on Thursday, Mr Ogendo said he took up the initiative after reports emerged that over 40,000 IDs had not been collected in the constituency.

Speaking during the exercise in Migosi ward, Ogendo urged the residents collect the identity cards to register as voters as this would enable them elect good leaders.

"If you haven't registered as a voter, please register now and let your voice be heard because tomorrow might just be too late," he said. Let us join hands and encourage our friends to register," he said.

"This is the only way we can get people who mean good to the citizens in office," he added.

Ogendo seeks to unseat the current Member of Parliament, Ken Obura.

The mass voter registration exercise by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, IEBC closes on March 14.
