Kiambu County Youths Affairs and Sports executive Michael Waikenda has urged schoolchildren in the county to use this holiday season to discover and grow their talents.
Addressing journalists at Kiambu town on Sunday, the CeC asked youths to take part in various sporting activities the county is initiating.
Waikenda said that the county government has started sporting activities in every sub-county to provide a platform for youths to grow their talents.
The CeC said that the county recognises the importance of nurturing talents. He added that since schools have closed it will be important for students to be kept busy.
“We are encouraging young people who want to discover and grow their talents to register with their respective sub counties so that they can be able to take part in sporting programmes we are organising,” he said.
Waikenda also cautioned youths against being lured into bad activities this holiday season. He specifically warned youths against being lured into crime and drug abuse.
The youth minister asked parents to engage with their children and provide proper guidance and counselling to them.
