Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has told Kiambu Governor William Kabogo to prepare for a tough race for the 2017 gubernatorial seat.

Waititu said that he is not scared of challenging Kabogo for the Kiambu gubernatorial come 2017 general elections. 

Speaking at Kabete town after inspecting development projects on Saturday, Waititu said that he will challenge for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat without fear. The MP said that Kiambu people are pressuring him to vie for the seat adding that he will follow the wishes of the people.

“Kiambu people want me to vie for the Kiambu governor seat and become the next governor which I will do without fear,” said Waititu.

The Kabete MP stated that residents have faith in him after he led the war against illicit brews in the county.

“Kiambu residents have been calling and asking me to vie for the seat assuring me of their votes for being on the front-line in fighting brews that had consumed their sons and men,” added Waititu.

The MP said that Kabogo had failed to tame illicit brews in the area.

Waititu at the same time told off Kabogo over his remarks that Kiambu County needs a governor who is financially stable to be able to guard public resources.

Kabogo is allegedly said to have made the remarks when he issued bursary funds at Gachororo Primary School in Juja on Wednesday.

“It is unfortunate for Kabogo to think that politics and leadership is about money,” said Waititu.

The Kabete MP said that leadership is about serving the people saying that he will address the many challenges facing Kiambu people if elected as governor come 2017.

The MP said that it is time Kiambu people elected leaders who will push for development agenda.

At the same time, Waititu maintained that he is not seeking to run for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat as being reported I section the media.

He said that his focus is in Kiambu and will not drop his bid for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat.

On Wednesday while addressing residents at Gachororo Trading Centre in Juja on Wednesday, Kabogo said that he is not afraid of competition from people who have shown interest in the Kiambu seat.

The governor said that he will confront them at the ballot adding that he will not engage in immature politics.

Kabogo also asked his competitors to stop dragging his name into their campaigns.
