Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi has called for the support of all leaders irrespective of political affiliations in the fight against graft.
Speaking to journalists after addressing the Kiambu county assembly on Thursday, Wamatangi said that the fight against graft needs collaborative efforts.
He said that the move by a section of leaders to criticise the government for failing to curb graft is insincere.
The senator said that leaders both in government and opposition need to share ideas on how to tame graft instead of blame games.
“This blame games on the war against graft will not help much, there is need for us leaders to sit down and deliberate on the best approach to confront corruption,” he said.
Wamatangi further warned leaders against politicising graft and running smear campaigns against people suspected of corruption.
He said that the move by section of politicians to politicise graft has hampered efforts of taming it.
At the same time, the senator called on independent government agencies mandated to crack the whip on graft to do their work diligently without being selective. He said that the government has the machinery to net down corrupt individuals.
Wamatangi also urged Kenyans to support the fight against the vice which he said can be tamed if Kenyans are sensitised on the importance of transparency and accountability.
