Kiambu County senator Kimani Wamatangi has called for intensified security across the country following the France terror attack on Friday last week that left at least 129 people dead.
Speaking to journalists at Githunguri trading centre in Kiambu on Tuesday, the Kiambu senator asked government security machineries to be on high alert.
The senator noted that the country’s security should be guaranteed at all times to avert acts like terrorism.
Wamatangi said that the Friday terror attack on France shows that terrorism is a global problem.
“The government through security agencies should intensify security to ensure that Kenyans are safe,” he said.
The senate lawmaker also asked the government to intensify patrols at the country’s borders in order to keep the enemy at bay. The senator stated that proper security measures will prevent cases of terrorism and crime.
Wamatangi at the same time cautioned youths in the county against being used by terror and crime agents. He advised youths to engage in lawful activities and report people who might what to influence their acts.
On Sunday, the government through the Inspector general of Police Joseph Boinnet said security will be intensified in the wake of France’s attacks.
Boinnet in the statement issued to the media said that police will increase patrols across the country and urged Kenyans to cooperate with law enforcers.
The Inspector General also warned youths against radicalisation saying that the government has taken appropriate measures to fight radicalism.
