Nakuru County Assembly majority leader Waithuke Njane has called on the National Land Commission to help address historical land injustices in the region.
Waithuke who addressed the press in Nakuru town on Friday expressed concern over the delay in melting justice to the 1992 post election victims.
“Those who were forced to leave their homes in 1992 post elections have not been compensated “, said Waithuke ,
He said it is a pity to see those who caused the suffering enjoying the loot.
“Those residents vacated in the homes left cash crops such as tea which is being enjoyed by those who forced them out and this is shocking,” said the ward representative.
He said the commission should move with speed and address the situation.
“There is need for the NLC to address historical land injustices and disputed land allocations in Nakuru County to give hope to those who are in need of justice,” he said.
He also said the commission should examine the genesis of public land ownership and its disposition in the post-colonial era, how this has disadvantaged some sections of Nakuru residents and given rise to claims of historical land injustices.
