Moi University Vice Chancellor, Prof Richard K. Mibey, has once again reassured students over their safety urging them to focus on their studies.

This comes ahead of the beginning of exams this week.

Prof Mibey, during a talk with university's final year students, said that efforts to ensure that all students, staff and facilities at Moi University are secured are catered for as armed police are patrolling around the varsity taking no chances as far as students' safety is concerned.

"I am committed to ensure that everybody here is safe. Go out there and tell the whole world that at Moi University we are safe because you have seen it for yourselves. Now we have armed police around and we are no taking any chances as far as your safety is concerned during your stay here,” he said.

Last month,  students held a peaceful demonstration seeking the institution to assure them of security safety following possible terror attack reports that had engulfed the institution after four students were confirmed missing. The VC further pleaded with the students to always make their displeasures about the university known to the relevant authorities to immediately address the matter.

“If there is anything that you don’t like about Moi University, please help us improve. You are our ambassadors outside there where we cannot reach. We welcome your ideas and recommendations to make Moi University the best institution,” added the VC.

On matters employment, Prof Mibey advised the final year students to be passionate about what they do in order to impress their prospective employers to offer them jobs.

“When you go out there and get a job, endeavour to show commitment in your job. Always have a mission in life. Learn what the new organisation is doing so that you plan to do something that will change it to make it bigger,” said Prof Mibey.
