The race for the 2017 elections in Nyamira Ccounty has taken a new twist with now a section of Borabu leaders claiming of being taken for granted by those in power.
Two MCAs from the county held a meeting at Damside Hotel that involved grassroots leaders from the entire six wards in the constituency on Thursday and resolved to for nothing less than deputy governor or the speaker of the county assembly seat in the 2017 polls.
They accused their counterparts from other constituencies for alleged short-changing them in 2013 polls and vowed to join a coalition with deputy governor or the speaker of the country assembly officer.
“We will be very keen in 2017. In 2013, the constituency was shortchanged in county leadership since we ended up getting raw deal. As leaders, we will only accept a coalition that will give us a deputy governor spot or the speaker of the county assembly or else we field a candidate for the gubernatorial seat,” said Mr Jackson Mogusu, who is also leader minority and Nyansiongo MCA.
His Mekenene ward counterpart Alfayo Ngeresa backed his colleague and said they will hold negotiations with other leaders from all constituencies and go for the deal that will suit their people.
“Devolution is taking roots and we must be represented as a constituency adequately at the county leadership. We are open to talks with our friends and we will go for the deal which suits our people. We can no longer be taken for granted in the county politics,” he said.
The constituency missed top slots at the county government in which top leadership came from other constituencies leaving them with only Leader of minority slot.
