Nakuru Senator James Mungai has said time has come to audit the Sh25 billion that has so far been disbursed to the county from the national government since the implementation of devolution.
The senator’s message was passed by his county manager Mr Joseph Omondi when he presented a Sh100,000 donation on behalf of the senator.
The donation was in aid of Full Gospel Church in Kampi ya Moto, Rongai sub-county.
“It is time to audit how Sh25 billion so far disbursed to the county has been utilised. The community will have a chance to do so beginning April this year through the facilitation of the Senator's office immediately we get our share of Sh7 million for oversight purposes,” said Omondi on behalf of the senator who couldn’t make it to the fundraiser due to engagements elsewhere.
Others who were present during the fundraiser were the area MCA Gitau Kamau, representative of the area MP and a representative from the office of the governor.
The governor’s representative said the governor had pledged Sh10,000 to be delivered this week.
“The audit that will be carried out by the wananchi will be devoid of ulterior motives,” promised Omondi, who was accompanied by other staff from the senator’s office.
