A senator from Western says that former presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi has to return to ODM if he is to revive his political career.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) leader left ODM before the last general election and formed UDF, which sponsored his unsuccessful presidential ambitions.

According to nominated Senator Daisy Nyongesa, Mr Mudavadi still has a future in politics if he re-joins Raila Odinga in the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) ahead of the 2017 polls.

“Mudavadi will become politically irrelevant if he doesn’t join us (in Cord) to boost his chances of becoming president,” she said, adding that: “He is still young and I believe he can reclaim his fortunes in opposition.”

“I don’t think he can even beat Jakom (Mr Odinga) as long as the two are in ballot,” she added, while on a visit in Kisii.

“It will be important if he rejoins ODM or Cord for that matter and solidify his future presidential ambitions. He needs Raila’s support to be president of this country.”
