Users of WhatsApp are a very happy lot. This follows the latest upgrade that allows group administrators to add up to more than 250 members in their groups.
Previously, the maximum number of group participants was 100.
Elijah Kinyanjui , a journalist in Nakuru County and blogger runs five WhatsApp groups where he is the administrator.
Among the notable ones is the vocal Nakuru Analysts, Nakuru County Think Tank & Nakuru Jubilee Party Politics among others.
"The upgrade has come in handy because we had many members who ought to be in the groups but due to limited number of participants, I couldn’t include them. In some cases, I was forced to create group 1 & 2 to accommodate them and it wasn’t really helpful,’’ explained Kinyanjui.
The blogger further said the WhatsApp groups that he administers bring together people from diverse professions and walks of life to brainstorm, exchange ideas, correct each other as well as analyse issues regarding the society thus keeping the county in check.
