The opposition leader, Raila Odinga wants the Eurobond to be declared a national disaster by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to the former prime minister, the Eurobond saga needs an urgent resolution. He spoke about this during a forum that took place at Ufungamano House, Nairobi on Thursday. Raila still maintains that the money was not deposited in the Central Bank of Kenya as reported earlier by the Treasury.
He accused the president of not working hard enough to bring transparency to the matter.
‘‘President Uhuru came to power using slogans of transparency. Why is he then not transparent on this issue?’’ asked Raila.
He also accused the Central Bank of Kenya of trying to cover up the issue because they had failed to release the statements of account showing the entire movement of the Eurobond cash.
He questioned how the bank of Qatar was involved in the Eurobond money but promised to do deeper into investigations on how the Qatar bank was involved in being the transaction advisers on the scam.
