After seven months of being jobless and four months of searching for a job in Nakuru, Edward Nyabuto decided to try the business in Nakuru town.

This Friday, he had many customers. One customer who he says was God sent, travelling in an Eldoret Express bus, asks him to bring her maize worth sh10.

He, however, engages in communication with the lady who asks him why he sold such a big peace at ten shillings whereas in Nairobi he would get twice the amount for the same piece. After the talk with the lady, Edward realises Nairobi is a better niche for his business and so, he decides to save up and come to Nairobi.

After a week at his friend’s house, he decides to set up the business, with the help of his friend, he raised enough money to order some green maize from Nakuru. His business soon kicked off in August last year at Kamkunji.

''I love my business because it has taught me not to depend on people for help. Some of my family members used to say they will look for a job for me. I waited for months without any reply from them and decided to move on,'' said Edward.

Edward has some advice for job seekers. He wants them to try out their own ideas before saying they are jobless.

''Better to try and fail than sit and wait for things to work out the way you want,'' said Edward.
