Josphine Mwaura from Solai has been depending on this enterprise since 2012 when her husband died after a road accident in Kiambu. Mrs. Mwaura has over 200 rabbits and she has sold many as well both to the locals and to clients from other counties.

Josephine is fully indulged into this enterprise which has enabled her to take her children to school and build a good house for her family.

"This enterprise has really pushed me from tatters to whom i am to day as i no longer depend on anybody. As a widow, there are a lot of challenges you face but i have been able to move on because of this business" said Mrs. Mwaura.

She said that in a month she can sell more than 20 rabbits and a mature rabbit goes between for Kshs. 1, 000- 1, 500 depending on the weight. She added that her bigger market is in Nairobi and Nakuru townalthough she also sell her rabbits to the local community.

She encouraged farmers to keep rabbits as they are easy to maintain and their feeds is always available.

She also said that keeping rabbits does not need a large piece if land therefore making it the cheapest enterprise to venture into.

She however said that due to the short gestation period of rabbits sometimes it becomes hard to maintain the large number of rabbits.
