Three Wiper Democratic leaders have extended their calls to have treasury CS Henry Rotich resign over the Eurobond saga to pave way for independent investigations.

Led by Makueni MP Dan Maanzo during a burial ceremony at Borabu on Monday, the MPs also accused President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government of being ‘corruption’ friendly, and questioned the source of money the top Jubilee leadership spends on harambees and other questionable meetings.

“Rotich in fact should have resigned as early as yesterday. As opposition, we have raised critical questions about the Eurobond and they have failed to justify the projects which allegedly received the money. We want him to resign if the government is sincere in fighting a war against corruption,” he said.

His East Africa Legislative counterpart Dr. Peter Mathuki said the government had failed to tame corruption, and urged area residents to show their wrath by voting it out in 2017 polls.

“This government t is corruption friendly. We have all seen that they have failed to account for over 140 billion Euro Bond proceeds and that is setting a bad precedence. The top leadership is on record for donating huge amounts of money to harambees and even giving leaders ‘brown envelopes’ which they cannot account for. I call upon you to show your wrath by voting them out,” he said.

Borabu MP Ben Momayi said resignation of Rotich would ensure proper investigations without interference for the sake of transparency.

“If he (Rotich) resigns or steps aside, then we shall have credible investigations. Kenyans have seen how the Jubilee government has been tolerating corruption and nothing can vindicate the president if he doesn’t crack a whip on senior members of treasury,” he said.
