A woman was on Monday arraigned in court for allegedly killing her newborn baby.

Ivy Chelegat was accused of killing her baby girl, minutes after delivery, by throwing her into a pit latrine on Dec 22, 2015, at Tuiyotich Dispensary in Njoro Sub County.

After the incident, she was taken for post natal care and was later charged with the crime.

Chelegat  pleaded not guilty to the charge and  was released on a surety bond of Sh100,000 with an alternative cash bail of sh50,000. 

The case will be heard on February 16, 2016.
