An elderly Woman in Masinga Sub County on Sunday night sustained serious injuries after a mob attacked her when she was found in someone's homestead allegedly practicing witchcraft.
According to the area chief Mzee Robert Nzwii, a crowd quickly gathered at around midnight following screams from a group of people who saw the woman who they could not be identify by name, taking laps around a newly constructed house while she was completely nude.
"Some villagers walking home a bit late from a ceremony spotted the woman in the homestead which is newly constructed and owners have not moved in. It is believed that the woman was bewitching the home owners who are planning a house opening party next weekend when they will be moving into their new home," explained Nzwii.
The people who first arrived at the scene say they heard screams and rushed only to find the naked woman. The woman received beatings before managing to escape.
The area chief explained that witchcraft is a menace despised by the people. He said they would have possibly killed the Woman if she had not been lucky enough to escape.
