A middle-aged woman on Tuesday denied charges of possession of marijuana when she appeared before a Kisumu law court.
Mercy Gathoni denied the charges when she appeared before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Thomas Obutu.
According to the prosecution, the accused was allegedly arrested with 50 rolls of marijuana on New Year’s Eve in Kisumu town.
The prosecution also alleged that the accused was in company of other people who are believed to have been peddling the drugs.
Gathoni told the court that she had never seen marijuana and was surprised over the charges.
The prosecution asked the court to remand the accused for fourteen days in order to enable the completion of investigation.
The court remanded the suspect for seven days.
