The move by a US based medical doctor to announce launching of Sauti Ya Mama initiative has been received warmly by hundreds of women from Nyamira County.
The initiative is expected to be launched in mid-November and will see women from the region get educated on matters social-economic development in a bid to uplift their living standards.
This will be the third mega project launched by Dr Joy Kerubo who also runs Dr Joy Foundation after a successful free medical screening project- carried out on a monthly basis in the area.
Addressing hundreds of women at Ekerenyo region, the foundation’s coordinator Mr Kefa Osiri urged women to form groups that will benefit them financially.
“I have been told to inform you of a Sauti Ya Mama initiative that will be launched soon. Dr Joy will be willing to support social-economical activities of women from this region provided you form women groups to make it easy for us,” he said.
He said the initiative will also be following closely on pertinent issues affecting women in the political arena besides dealing with social injustices women face in the community.
“Apart from supporting women economically, the initiative will also focus fighting for political space among area women. Social injustices directed towards women will also be handled by the group hence giving women a new chapter in life,” he added.
