Speaking at a women's meeting today at Give Hope Hall in Kikuyu town, the chairlady of Tuimarike Kikuyu women's group Ms. Joyce Nyaguthii said that the group identified the schools following a recent campaign of donating sanitary towels to those schools.

The three identified schools include Riri Primary School, Maranatha Primary School and Kingeero Mixed Secondary School where there has been a high number of absenteeism of girls during their menses due to lack of proper sanitation.

The chairlady also said that these cases were making girls feel uncomfortable in front of their male classmates and also male teachers something that needed urgent attention.

"We are going to build 3 modern toilets in those 3 schools and the first construction will start next week in King'eero Mixed Secondary School. We expect the exercise to be completed by February next year," said Nyaguthii.

She said that issues affecting the girl child were alarm raising and she therefore urged other women's group to stand with the girls and help in different areas.
